       I Left Behind the Comfort Zone

Freedom was given by my parents,

But I never misused that freedom in the name of roaming around.

I never really knew how to make use of it.

My friends used to hang out and have fun,

While poor me—

I just watched their stories on social media.

Before stepping out of my comfort zone,

Social media was my best friend,

Teaching me things I was unaware of.

And then suddenly, it was October 2024,

And the little girl inside me turned 25.

In the same month,

My tuition friend came over with the fabric for her bridesmaid gown—

She was getting married in December 2024.

I felt happy and a bit shy,

Wondering how I would look and dance on the floor.

Soon, December arrived—

Her wedding day.

I was nervous and shy too,

But that red gown with the golden net—

Oh my God, I looked damn beautiful!

With straight hair and a bit of makeup,

I clicked lots of snaps.

And then came the reception,

The hall was packed with people,

All gathered around the sweet couple.

As the marching started,

I spotted a handsome boy—

Not my boyfriend, but my tuition friend’s cousin.

We danced together on the floor,

And for a couple of minutes,

I forgot all my problems.

Moments later, I realized—

I was dancing in front of everyone!

That was the moment I promised myself:

"Yo girl, you left your comfort zone behind."
