Twenty Glass Bangles.
Twenty Glass Bangles.
Do you like glass bangles?”
“Yes!”
“Why?”
“When we meet for coffee, I’ll get some for you.”
“Oh-ho! But I’m not a coffee person. I want kadak chai.”
“Done. Anything for you.”
“So, we’re catching up this evening, right?”
“Yes, of course! I’m planning to wear something in white.”
“Same here.”
It was our first meeting.
I was nervous and excited at the same time. My hands were shivering, and then, suddenly, he was standing right in front of me.
We reintroduced ourselves and started talking.
He gave me twenty red sunflowers and twenty glass bangles in different colours—one to match every outfit of mine.
I was happy.
We ordered kadak chai and filter coffee. One sip after another, one question after another—not really questions, but little moments where his eyes kept noticing my happiness.
We shared every single detail about ourselves.
We laughed. Truly laughed.
It felt like I had forgotten how to laugh after those three failed attempts at love.
My eyes were searching for something in him—hope, peace, patience, positive energy, and happiness.
With him, I felt secure. I felt safe.
And then…
It was time to wake up to reality.
My mom’s alarm buzzed at three in the morning.
I opened my eyes.
Just a dream.
These unhealthy dreams are seriously killing my peace, as if Prince Charming is actually waiting at my door.
Or maybe my heart was simply reminding me what it wishes to find someday.
For now, though…
I’ll keep my twenty glass bangles and hot red sunflowers in the dream.
